New Anti-Psychiatry Blog
A new blog has just been started in advance of the upcoming World Congress of Psychiatry in Dresden, Germany. The basic position taken by the “Outlaw Psychiatry Now!” blog is, “psychiatry is a tool for oppression used against ordinary people under the cover of “Medical Specialty” to secure and perpetuate the rule of big business.” Among many other things, the blog recalls the verdict of the Foucault trial on the state of psychiatry that was held 9 years ago in Berlin:
Psychiatry cannot pretend to the art of healing, having violated the Hippocratic Oath through a conscious use of harmful drugs, which caused in particular the world wide epidemic of tardive dyskinesia, as well as other interventions which we recognize as tortures: involuntary confinement, forced drugging, four point restraints, electroshock, all forms of psychosurgery and outpatient commitment.
Much more is on the blog, including testimony, activism and advocacy.

Hi, the blog, http://www.stopforceddrugging.blogspot.com encapusulates the situation in New Zealand in relation to the forced drugging regime.
The blog has legal information, photos, posters, diagrams etc. There are discussions on the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990.
That last statute is of particular importance, as NZ has no written constitution. Therefore it’s citizens have no constitutionally enforceable rights.

[...] New Anti-Psychiatry Blog [...]
These are good news! I have written a few things myself at http://encefalus.com/sociopolitical/psychiatry-antipsychiatry-history-mental-disease/
my blog changed to http://psychsurvivor2.wordpress.com/
Psychiatry is a pseudoscience at best and having experienced “treatment” at the hands of its practitioners i can do nothing but agree with most of what you say, all this branch of the medical profession seem to do is to label various forms of what can only be described as madness in new and interesting ways- and substitute the word madness with “disorder”. bipolar disorder, personality disorder etc.
Thus hijacking the discussion about the human condition and peoples personal issues/ difficulties and claiming a misappropriated authority in such matters.
Many psychOLOGISTS would probably agree that the wisdom of psychology is to debate the nature of the discipline as to whether it is a true science or a simply a perspective with a scientific bent (and as a consequence of this wisdom to debate its nature it loses out in the authority stakes to psychiatry)
Psychiatry on the other hand simply assumes its position as a medical science and this is not open to debate by its practitioners (believe me ive tried) due to them allying their quackery with the work of true doctors and medical scientists.
If i have a broken arm it is either broken or not broken, and from a scientific investigation i can find EVIDENCE for this (eg an xray) and decide on the best course of action for treatment based on scientific research and experience (eg a cast), just as a physicist will propose a theory, investigate and prove or disprove a hypothesis.
What psychiatry does is a neat trick and using a method that appears to be similar, (and admittedly appears to many to be the same, therein lies the rub!) is to first invent or attempt to classify someones personality into a type or diagnosis, claiming a knowledge of the human condition as accurate and akin to an anatomical model of an arm and then “treat” that personality, Herein lies the big difference- while a true doctor caring for my arm has indisputable EVIDENCE of its workings and subtleties, psychiatry can only explain using its self referential terminology what they think MIGHT be the cause of a behaviour and this they “treat” with a catalogue of psychoactive substances, skipping the whole requirement of EVIDENCE which is the cornerstone of any good science.
In practice psychiatry is more akin to a religion than a medical doctrine and claims not through divine providence but through “subjective analysis” to have the answers to any problems the functioning of someones thought processes may have.
All they have achieved in the last century in psychiatry is to relabel and elaborate on the term madness and guess at a few answers for them- the most consistent one being that medication with some psychoactive substance is necessary.
Its like claiming to have cured your broken arm by feeding you painkillers so you dont notice it!(oh and then setting up a lifetime contract with you for the further purchase of more painkillers)
Society adores these quacks because wherein the past mad people or “schizophrenics” as doctors are want to call them are sedated, “treated” and cease to appear mad anymore, this approach to the insane is nothing new- the change from “warden of an asylum” to “RMO of a mental health hospital” is purely a semantic one.
I can legally challenge a diagnosis i have been given by a psychiatrist, not to much avail i warn you as their self appointed authority in such matters has reached epic proportions) and their terminology is so scientific sounding that it can actually be argued against with scientifically applying legal argument and perspectives of psychologists-
I cannot legally challenge a broken arm however as the laws of the universe prevent it being so, its that evidence thing again, see?
The whole process of labelling of those with odd, challenging, crazy or dangerous behaviour in a medical manner with particular disorders or mind diseases is so very arrogant and an insult to those doctors who study real physical illness and know the definition of a true “disease”.
There was a psychiatric study of personality disorders in british jails it found that 80% of those jailed had a disorder called ANTISOCIAL/DISSOCIAL personality disorder, if this is medicine ill eat my hat. effectively labelling those with criminal dispositions as “ill”. dangerously enabling these individuals to claim on medical grounds that they cant help it cos they have a disorder!
what next? a RISK AND GLORY SEEKING personality disorder for firemen? what they do defies logical thought and is beyond most of us-
running into burning buildings when every other living thing on the planet would flee- but we dont see them as disordered do we?
the terms are brave, stupid, heroic, gallant whilst a psychiatrist would probably decide that this “disorder” or behaviour should be described thus:
Flagrant disregard for personal safety at the expense of others, tendency for adrenalin seeking characterized with a desire for attractiveness to young women.
This disorder that i just invented is no different than the ones psychiatry regularily comes up with (which they then vote on to decide which ones they like! i kid you not!)
what seems to be going on in the psychiatrists heads is a desire to develop an understanding of the human brain more akin to the way we would understand a computer -fair enough but these guys have a lot of power via mental health law as they masquerade as scientists and experts, oh and for all the similarities our brains are not computers.
They arent ill these guys what they are is sick and power mad, when it comes down to it in their heads “we all suffer from some form of mental illness to some extent” they actually are trying to cure what makes humans human and if thats not mad i dont know what is.
